A railcar is self-propelled railway vehicle designed to transport passengers. The term “railcar” is usually used in reference to a train consisting of a single coach (carriage, car), with a driver’s cab at one or both ends.
A very rare railcar – AR2 was built by RVR (Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca), which is one of the largest machine-building plants in Latvia. There were only two units built by RVR – AR2-01 and AR2-02. The first is operating in Latvia and AB „Lietuvos Geležinkeliai“ (Lithuania railways) owns AR2-2.
