The first switcher diesel locomotive TEM2 was introduced in 1960, 7870 units were built during 40 years of production. Below is a list of major modifications of TEM2.
TEM2A – adapted for 1520mm and 1435mm gauge;
TEM2U – new controller installed, thermal insulation improved, engine modifications made;
TEM2M – new engine embedded instead of old PD-1M;
TEM2T – model for tropical climate;
TEM2T (T is written as a superscript) – unit with a rheostatic resistor system;
TEM2UM – equipped with diesel engine – generator 1PDG-4;
TEM2UMT – TEM2UM with dynamic braking system.
