Goods from China to Europe. Meeting of AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai and Sinotrans

A delegation of AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) led by Stasys Dailydka visited China‘s Guangdong province on 21 September 2016. Cooperation on organising cargo shipments from this province to Europe was discussed in a meeting with the representatives of the Chinese transport giant Sinotrans.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Governor of Guangdong, the Mayor of Dongguan City (population – more than 8·5 million) and his deputies. Guangdong province is an exporter of IT products and light industrial production. Matters related to train traffic and the possibilities of transporting goods via Lithuania were discussed at the meeting. It is estimated that five container trains per week could pass through Lithuania on their way to Europe.

Container trains from China would employ the railways and the whole Lithuanian transport system even more effectively.

Sinotrans is the fourth largest logistics group in the world and the largest logistics company in China. Organising transportation, terminals and warehousing are main services of the company.
