On April 16th, there was held the conference in Klaipeda, Lithuania, “Container train “Viking”. Development and business opportunities “AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai” Freight Transportation Direction Director Stasys Gudvalis and companys “Inchcape Shipping Services” unit in Turkey General Manager Kadir Kaya signed a memorandum of mutual understanding.
Both sides have agreed to cooperate in increasing the cargo volume between Turkey, Lithuania, the Baltic Sea region and the Middle East, also to promote the transport of goods by container train “Viking”. It is planned to develop common services and promotional packages for the “Viking” project.
It is hoped that cooperation with existing and new partners and customers in Turkey and the Scandinavian countries in the near future will give results – regular cargo traffic. The test container with household appliances from Turkey to Lithuania was brought this year on 15 February. The distance between the two countries completed in less than 4 days.
“Inchcape Shipping Services” has 300 offices in 67 countries and employ almost 4,000 people. The global maritime industry company provides freight transportation, supply and logistics solutions. Last year, it carried nearly 730 thousand container units (TEU) and has worked with more than 2,500 customers.
